“The Rescue“is a story about Dunder the German Shepherd and the day his parents brought home Munster from the animal shelter – changing both of their lives forever. “The Rescue” shares the message of hope, appreciation, friendship, and animal rescue with the next generation of dog lovers. And what better way to do this than to use our dogs’ story as an example.
This book started out as an idea for our son’s first birthday gift. After receiving several requests from our followers, we felt the need to share it and spread the importance of rescuing animals in need.
For years my wife and I have had an idea for a Children’s book. We never found the time to actually sit down and make it happen, but somehow after the birth of our son we made it happen. Maybe he was the inspiration to actually sit down and make it happen? Most likely, but either way we got it done and aside from a few finishing touches it’s going to be up for sale soon.
Here’s a sneak peak of some of the work in progress illustrations. We are really happy with the outcome and hope you will be too. The story is fun and has a great meaning behind it (which we will share soon). Please stay tuned here, our social networks or enter your email at dunandmun.com for updates.
I just wrapped up a month off of work for baby bonding. The days were filled with playing with new toys, books, trying out solid foods, naps, partial naps, and bonding. During that time I was actually able to notice a lot more of a bond had formed between me and baby. I firmly believe that people should get much more time off of work to bond with their children, but that’s another story. Here’s a video I took that sums up a typical day. Enjoy!
Have a baby at home? How has the experience been so far?
This picture pretty much describes the last 5 months. An incredible baby, that requires an incredible family to raise him. I’ve been constantly moving furniture around the house to prep, my wife must have developed an amazing reach in order to do all the multitasking she does, Dunder runs unbelievably fast to the baby every time he cries, and Munster…..well Munster likes to cover himself from the loud noise. Haha. Parenting has been Incredible and we look forward to all the challenges and rewards. Can’t wait til next Halloween!
Recently, I started letting my son lay on the floor and explore the room visually. He gets to lay there, wiggle his little legs and play. I put out a white sheet on the floor and even allowed my dogs to lay near him, smell him, and get used to him. It’s really funny that once they smell him, they just lay down next to him and stare. I have no idea what they are thinking, but I can tell that it is positive. Then of course, I started snapping a bunch of pictures…
That’s when the ideas started rolling in. Watching them lay on the sheet interacting was so beautiful, but I saw potential for an art project. Here are a couple of initial ones. I can see myself doing a lot more of these as the months go by.
This is how it started, just a dog and baby playing on a sheet…
with a little creativity, that white sheet becomes pride rock from The Lion King.
And also a scene inspired by Where the Wild Things Are.
I’m happy to announce the birth of my son! And a little project that I’ve been working on for the past 9 months. Since this was our first pregnancy, I have to admit that I was nervous the entire time. Still am with the newborn, but thats another story. Taking a photo a day with plans to compile it into a time-lapse video, helped me turn some of the nerves into creativity. Here is our birth announcement, I hope you enjoy:
Here are a few stills from the video. We start off in the guest room which transforms into the nursery. Included in the video is also a baby moon to Hawaii along with a few other surprises. Check it out and see for yourself.
