I created a custom Cars Radiator Springs play table for my toddler’s 2nd Birthday.

For the past few months, my son 1.5 year old son has been crazy about Lightening McQueen and Cars. So that means that I’ve been into it as well. With his 2nd birthday coming up, I knew just what to do. I built him a custom Radiator Springs play table made of wood, clay, and toys from the Disney Pixar Cars movies. This video shows the process, the final product, and his reaction to seeing it. Maybe I’ll take him to see Cars 3 when it comes out! Anyways, enjoy!

My Son’s First Year of Life (TIMELAPSE VIDEO)

In our family’s typical fashion, we documented another milestone in a photo a day video. This is our son’s first year. He will be 2 in a month already. I’ve been pretty busy with daddy duty so I haven’t had much time to write, but I have a fun project coming up for his 2nd birthday gift that I will document here. Enjoy!

This picture pretty much describes the last 5 months

This picture pretty much describes the last 5 months. An incredible baby, that requires an incredible family to raise him. I’ve been constantly moving furniture around the house to prep, my wife must have developed an amazing reach in order to do all the multitasking she does, Dunder runs unbelievably fast to the baby every time he cries, and Munster…..well Munster likes to cover himself from the loud noise. Haha. Parenting has been Incredible and we look forward to all the challenges and rewards. Can’t wait til next Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Hope you have an INCREDIBLE one!

This is my son’s first Halloween. I wanted it to be really epic. I’m pretty happy with the results. 🙂IMG_1998

Say hello The Incredibles.

A White Sheet With Endless Possibilities…

Recently, I started letting my son lay on the floor and explore the room visually. He gets to lay there, wiggle his little legs and play. I put out a white sheet on the floor and even allowed my dogs to lay near him, smell him, and get used to him. It’s really funny that once they smell him, they just lay down next to him and stare. I have no idea what they are thinking, but I can tell that it is positive. Then of course, I started snapping a bunch of pictures…

That’s when the ideas started rolling in. Watching them lay on the sheet interacting was so beautiful, but I saw potential for an art project. Here are a couple of initial ones. I can see myself doing a lot more of these as the months go by.

This is how it started, just a dog and baby playing on a sheet…

with a little creativity, that white sheet becomes pride rock from The Lion King.

Toy Story Themed Baby Shower

With help from my family, I was able to give my wife an awesome baby shower. We decided to go with a Toy Story theme. The idea was to have it resemble Toy Story but making it feel less like a kids birthday party and more of a “pinterest” feel while staying true to the colors of the theme. We cooked food and planned games for our guests. The baby shower was a huge success.

My mom and grandma surprised us with this amazing diaper cake

These pins were given to each guest. Every time a guest would get caught saying the word “baby” they would have to forfeit their pin to whoever caught them.

5

Some other games were “Name That Song”, each song had the word “baby” in the title. And “Name That Baby” where guests brought baby pictures of themselves and we all had to guess who was who.

6

We used these blocks to have guests try to guess the name of the baby.

For party favors we gave out popcorn labeled “Ready to Pop”

Dunder and Munster made great hosts.

It’s a Boy Story! Baby Shower Invitations

UPDATE Feb 23,2016: WE WROTE A CHILDREN’S BOOK! and its coming out very soon! Please check here to be the first to see it! http://www.dunandmun.com/

As a designer, I’d rather spend time creating a custom invitation than go out and purchase a pack from the store.  I really wanted to get creative with the Baby Shower invitation and announcement of the sex. As a life long Disney fan,  it didn’t take long for me to come up with the theme of the baby shower and the idea for the matching invitation.  Here is Toy Story inspired outcome. TO INFANCY AND BEYOND!!!

Dunder and Munster are getting ready for some strange things to happen to the world they once knew.

And here are some initial sketches. Originally I thought about having the back be an etch a sketch, but I really wanted to draw Buzz Lightyear along with a few other Toy Story Characters.
